For Season of the Witch, Bungie teased well in advance that they were preparing to release one of the most complex weapons Catalysts they had done to this date in Destiny 2. This Catalyst turned out to be for the Exotic auto rifle Monte Carlo.

How To Get The Monte Carlo Catalyst
To get the Monte Carlo Catalyst in Destiny 2, players will need to hit the game’s playlist activities. This means playing either Vanguard strikes of any level, any Crucible mode, as well as Gambit. The drop is therefore entirely random and RNG dependent, though based on Bungie’s past track record with brand-new Catalyst, the chance of it dropping should be fairly high.
What The Monte Carlo Catalyst Does
Stochastic Vengeance: When players gain 5 stacks of Markov Chain, an alternate melee mode using the weapon’s bayonet can be accessed. Melee hits charge melee ability. The Monte Carlo Catalyst grants the auto rifle a brand-new perk called Stochastic Vengeance. This allows players to access the weapon’s iconic bayonet and use it as a glaive-like melee weapon, once they’ve reached 5 stacks of Markov Chain. Note that activating this alternate firing mode will replace the player’s melee attack with the bayonet, similar to a glaive’s melee.
Hitting targets with the bayonet also charges the player’s melee ability, which further bolsters this weapon’s viability in melee-centric builds.
Destiny 2 is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
